How We Build Our Adirondack Chairs
Each Adirondack Chair is carefully hand crafted from 1 unique Napa Valley Wine Barrel. After the wine has been aged, the barrel is broken down into its staves and arranged by size. From there, expert craftsman assemble the frame of the chair carefully cutting each piece to the perfect angle in order to align with the curves of the barrel.
Once assembled, each chair is meticulously sanded for a smooth finish that is comfortable to the touch and reveals the hidden grains and of the white oak wood and the beautiful burgundy colour of the California wine. From sanding the chair then moves into finishing where we lather the chair with a specially formulated treatment oil designed to protect the wood from the elements, bring out the grain, and enhance the beautiful colour of the burgundy backrest.
Each chair is handmade in Calgary Alberta from 1 full barrel and comes in 2 easy to assemble pieces that can be shipped right to your door.
We purchase our barrels from Napa Valley after they spend 3-5 years casking red wine. After a couple cycles go through the barrel there is no more charred oak to bleed into the wine. This barrel is still in great condition but is now lacking the essence wineries look for; flavour.
The beautiful burgundy colour on the inside of the white oak staves is the reason we specifically buy red wine barrels. After staining with a linseed derivative, the colour pops and holds in a deep purple range.
